Sensuous complexity is a slow, thoughtful, and underplayed logic working across this presentation.... Erin McFadyen, ARTIST PROFILE (AU) READ HERE
Timo Kube literally makes use of the translucence of fabric when he stretches fine silk fabric in different hues over mirrors that are mounted on wood in the series Untitled Silk. The mirrors absorb the space including the viewers and throw them back as it were, albeit transformed by the effect of the veil. Here, the veiled mirror does not conceal any stable (pictorial) reality, but instead always generates reality anew from various light situations and viewing angles.

" Experience is key as to how these complex objects come across materially, formally and senuously. The objects have the capacity to appear both formally neutral and senuously complex, viewable from a distance and yet emotive and proximate. "

Timo Kube critically looks at the conditions of human perception and knowledge formation as the most direct instruments for encountering and constituting a world in which he seeks to locate himself. The experience of physical action, process and change forms an important aspect of his practice. This may arise in the prolonged labour of artistic production or in the observation of the continuously shifting appearance of an artwork. Nuanced sensibilities and a fine feeling for the differences of phenomena are at the centre of his attention.
