Bagaki´s curiosity contemplates emotions, ideas and thoughts, ephemeral feelings such as desire, longing, and the intense power and perception of sexuality. The work expressed through the medium of painting, unique photographic installations and occasional poetry and artist books draws the fine non-verbal strands that determine and guide love, sexuality and intense relationships.
KInd of Stillness brings together found online imagery and her own unique photographs - intimate fragments of bodily and everyday objects - hand-transferred onto aluminum sheets. In the artist's own words, the title identifies a certain mood more than it describes what you see. I’m drawn to the friction between the cold, industrial surface and the warmth and vulnerability of organic forms. Through small, tactile interventions - scratching, rubbing, bending - I interrupt the metal’s smoothness with my touch, leaving marks that soften its rigidity. These works are my way of thinking about how bodies, desire, and beauty are mediated, perceived, and consumed, now blurring the boundaries between the public and the intimate, the personal and the shared.
Selective solo exhibitions include What bodies want to do Eleni Koroneou Gallery, Athens (2024), Something like a poem, a nude, and flowers in a vase, EMST National Museum of Contemporary Art Athens (2023), Falling into Whispers and Kisses, CHAUFFEUR, Sydney (2021) Reclining Artist, the Artist is reclining Eleni Koroneou Gallery, Athens (2021), The importance of reading, writing, and exfoliating Palette Terre, Paris (2019), Economy Class, Signal Centre For Contemporary Art, Malmö, Sweden, A book, a film, and a soundtrack Radio Athènes, Athens and Now you see me, oh now you don’t, New Studio, London.
